(Nishan al-Nil). Instituted in late 1915 by Sultan Husain Kamil. Type II (1926-). A french made example of this order, consisting of a 10-pointed silver gilt star with multi-faceted rays and a white enamelled star with a raised central inlay in blue enamels, suspended from a small Royal Crown and swivel ring from its period original ribbon featuring a large rosette, unmarked, measuring 54.3 mm (w) x 76.7 mm (h), weighing 42.56 grams, large loss of enamels to the 2 o’clock arm, dark patina, in near very fine condition.
Accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden core with a dark blue lightly textured faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed in gilt, the interior of the lid embossed with the maker mark of “J. Lattes” of France, measures 95 mm (w) x 130 mm (h) x 33mm (d), light wear, with a functional exterior metal hinge, intact interior fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior metal clasp closure, in very fine condition.
