(Ta Hsun Wei Lan Hua Chang). Instituted March 1st, 1934. Constructed of silver, consisting of an impressive four-pointed yellow and white enameled Ray Cross in silver, with blue enameled Chinese Thunder Clouds in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse centre also in gilt exhibiting a yellow enameled centre medallion encircled by a translucent red enameled ring, the reverse plain, suspended from an Imperial orchid crest with yellow enameled petals, featuring Japanese characters on the reverse for “Order of Merit Decorations”, with a slightly mismatched modern replacement ribbon, unmarked, measuring 48.4 mm (w) x 79.6 mm (l), with some enamel contact, in overall better than very fine condition.
