Thailand, Kingdom. A Cased Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, III. Class Commander, c. 1945

(Khrueang Ratcha itsariyaphon An Pen Thi Choetchu Ying Chang Phueak). Instituted in late 1861. (c. 1945 issue). A fine example of a cased Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, 3rd. Class Commander, constructed of silver, featuring a starburst pattern with a central leftward-facing white enameled elephant, surrounded by a faceted ring, and a ring of alternating red and green petals, the reverse medallion with a red enameled character, on a period original neck ribbon, the badge is suspended from a gilded Thai crown suspension, hallmarked with unknown Thai characters on the reverse of the award and on the reverse of the crown suspension, measuring 53.9 mm (w) x 54.1 mm (l), weighing 49.72 grams. 

Accompanied by its presentation case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden core, with a bright red felted fabric exterior, the exterior of the lid with a gilded bronze winged and crowned figurine, with a padded off-white and golden embossed satin blended fabric on the inside of the lid, with a functional exterior metal hinge, intact fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior metal clasp closure, measuring 87 mm (w) x 150 mm (l), 

A fine cased example of this award, displaying beautiful even and dark patina from age, with only very minor contact marks on the enamels, the ribbon with six small holes from previous collector mounting, the case beautifully preserved, in overall near extremely fine condition.
