(Ordre impérial du Dragon d'Annam / Đại Nam Long Tinh Huy Chương). Instituted in 1886. Five-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red and navy blue enamels, locally manufactured, measuring 49.5 mm (w) x 69.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, chipping and wear evident in the navy blue enamels on the centrepiece, on its original Military Division ribbon, very fine.
Footnote: The Imperial Order of the Dragon of Annam was instituted on March 14, 1886 in the city of Huế, by Emperor Đồng Khánh of the Imperial House of Annam, upon the "recommendation" of the President of France, as a jointly awarded French colonial order. The Order was designed as a reward for services to the state, the French colonial government, or the emperor. It was was discontinued in 1955 and was awarded in five grades: Grand Cordon, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight. Awarded individuals are incorporated into the "Đại Nam Long Tinh Viện", similar to the French National Order of the Legion of Honour.
