Japan, Empire. A Cased Order of the Golden Kite, VII. Class Breast Badge, with Matching Boutonniere

(Kinshi Kunshō). Instituted February 12th, 1890. Constructed of silver, the obverse depicting a gilt Kite above crossed ancient shields with two crossed spears and banners, on a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a hook and loop on the reverse for secure attachment to a uniform, unmarked, measuring 43.2 mm (w) x 56.4 mm (l), weighing 34.19 grams inclusive of its ribbon.

Accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a wooden core and black bakelite with a lacquered finish, the exterior of the case with Japanese script in gilt, with a functional exterior metal hinge, purple silken interior, and loose but functional external clasp closure, measuring 60 mm (w) x 88 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
