Germany, DAF. A Gau Schleswig-Holstein Industrial Competition Merit Plaque, with Case

(Deutsche Arbeitsfront Plakette mit Etui). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse bearing a raised German national eagle clutching a Deutsche Arbeitsfront (German Labour Front/DAF) insignia, situated within an inscription of “FÜR BEWÄHRUNG IM LEISTUNGSKAMPF DER DEUTSCHEN BETRIEBE” (“FOR PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN THE MERIT STRUGGLE OF GERMAN COMPANIES”), the reverse bearing a central raised Schleswig-Holstein coat of arms, situated within a dedication, the obverse engraver marked “C. RHEIN”, measuring 7 cm (w) x 7 cm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt DAF insignia, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted maroon velvet medal bed closing with a functional metal snap button, unmarked, measuring 10 cm (w) x 10 cm (l) x 2 cm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish and material fatigue to the plaque and case, respectively, a rare award in better than very fine condition.
