Germany, Third Reich. A Flak Badge, by C.E. Juncker

(Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central Flak 88 with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a replacement round wire catch emanating from an oval baseplate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of variation produced by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, absent the typical cut-out adjacent to the base of the gun, measuring 44.73 mm (w) x 64.67 mm (h), weighing 40.8 grams, a repaired example in better than very fine condition.
