Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, Late-War Example with Case, by Carl Wild

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “107” for Carl Wild, Hamburg, measuring 36.93 mm (w) x 44.45 mm (h), weighing 24.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 66 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating near-total loss of gilt finish to the base metal of the badge, a high-quality and late-war set in better than very fine condition.
