Germany, Third Reich. A Pair of Aviation Medallions, with RAD Cap Badge

(Medaillen und Mützenabzeichen). A mixed lot of three items, including:

1. A 1936 Cannstatter Wasen commemorative flight medal, constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised depiction of an Etrich Taube in mid-flight, circumscribed by an inscription of “JUBILÄUMS-STERNFLUG ZUM CANNSTATTER WASEN 1911-1936” (“ANNIVERSARY FLIGHT TO CANNSTATTER WASEN 1911-1936”), the reverse bearing raised dedications from the Lord Mayor of Stuttgart and the local Deutsches Luftsportverband (German Air Sports Association/DLV) chapter, unmarked, measuring 60 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor loss of finish, in extremely fine condition.

2. A small medallion, constructed of aluminum, the obverse bearing a raised profile of Ferdinand von Zeppelin, flanked by name, circumscribed by an inscription of “ZIEL ERKANNT - KRAFT GESPANNT!” (“DESTINATION KNOWN - POWER INTENSE!”), the reverse bearing a raised depiction of an airship flying against a Mainz skyline, circumscribed by an inscription indicating that the medallion was issued to commemorate the 1908 flight of LZ. 4, measuring 33 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

3. A Reichsarbeitsdienst (Reich Labour Service/RAD) cap badge, constructed of magnetic metal, the reverse retaining both attachment prongs, marked with a Reichsletiung des Reichsarbeitsdienstes logo and a maker’s mark obscured by the prongs, measuring 45 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
