(Militärdienstzeichen für Offiziere). Instituted in 1849 by Franz Joseph I. Type IV/V (1911-1913, 1913-1918). In silver gilt, a cross with a black enamelled border and interior pebbled field, the obverse center features a gilded double headed eagle, the reverse is plain, measures 34.7mm (w) x 37.8mm (h), weighs 19.0 grams (including ribbon), worn on original triangular ribbon with button closure, enamels intact, light wear, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, red leatherette exterior with double headed eagle symbol impressed on lid, the interior features a creme coloured silk lid which is maker marked ZIMBLER, WIEN, with a black velvet recessed medalbed, measures 65mm (w) x 115mm (h) x 20mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, reinforced base for protection, light wear to exterior and mild discolouration, in very fine condition.
