1. Austria, Empire. A Bronze Bravery Medal. Obverse bearing the image of Emperor Franz Joseph I, reverse inscription reads DER TAPFERKEIT, on original silk Austrian 'tri-fold' ribbon with fittings, evidence of some scratches, 31 mm, in very fine condition.
Footnote: The medal was instituted on 19 July 1789 by Emperor Joseph II and awarded for bravery in battle until the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918.
2. Austria, Empire. 1873 War Medal. Obverse center medallion bearing the right profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I, reverse inscription reads 2 December 1873, on the original ribbon, 37 mm, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This medal was instituted on 2 December 1873 by Emperor Franz Joseph I and was awarded to all military personnel of the Austro-Hungarian Armed Forces that took part in one or more campaigns in the years 1848, 1849, 1859, 1864, 1866, 1869, 1878, 1882, as well as in the military operations during the Chinese Boxer Rebellions from 1900 to 1901, have participated.
3. Austria, Empire. A Military Merit Medal. In silver, obverse medallion bearing the profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I, reverse inscription SIGNUM LAUDIS surrounded by a wreath, inclusive of crown suspension 43 mm (h) x 30 mm (w), on a tri-fold ribbon, evidence of scratches, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Military Merit Medal was a military decoration of the Empire of Austria-Hungary. It was founded by Emperor Franz Joseph I on March 12, 1890. The Military Merit Medal is often referred to as the "Signum Laudis" (Latin for "sign of praise") after the inscription on the reverse of the medal.
4. Austria, Empire. Commemorative Cross 1848-1908, Military Division. Cross surrounded by laurel wreath, obverse medallion bearing profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I facing right, obverse dates 1848 1908, on tri-fold ribbon, 36.2 mm, evidence of wear on obverse medallion, very fine condition.
Footnote: This medal was instituted by Emperor Franz Joseph I to commemorate the 60th anniversary of his reign, and to reward the faithful service of Army and Navy personnel over a period of 60 years.
