Description

(Dutch: Leopoldsorde, French: Ordre de Léopold). Instituted in 1832. In silver, a large Maltese Cross with faceted finish and ball finials, a cluster of five smooth rays in each quadrant, the central medallion featuring a crowned rampant lion on a black enamelled field, encircled by a red ring inscribed L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE, the reverse featuring a vertical pin flanked by dual stays, central cartouche marked P.DeGreef 112 RUE DU MIDI BRUXELLES, measures 80.3 mm (w) x 80.1 mm (h), weighs 120.42 grams, enamels intact, light oxidation to star, in extremely fine condition.

Contained in original case of issue, a hardshell black leatherette exterior marked with the cypher of Leopold on the lid, the interior features a velvet medalbed and silk lid interior marked P.DeGreef BRUXELLES 112 RUE DU MIDID 114, measures 110 mm (w) x 135 mm (h) x 45 mm (d), light wear, hinge and catch functional, remains in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by a card denoting the Order, class and country.
