In gilt metal, obverse illustrating a standing female figure, a sword pointing downwards in her right hand, her left arm raised and holding the Croatian coat-of-arms in her hand, within a wreath composed of a branch of laurel leaves and a branch of oak leaves and acorns, reverse inscribed "RH" (Republika Hrvatska = Republic of Croatia) in the centre, surrounded by the inscription "SPOMENICA DOMOVINSKOG RATA" (Remembrance for the Homeland War), measuring 40.5 mm (w) x 50.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, original triangular ribbon with pinback, very light contact, near extremely fine. In its plastic case of issue, inscribed "SPOMENICA DOMOVINSKOG RATA 1990-1992" on the inside lid, navy blue felt recessed medal bed, case also near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Medal of Remembrance for the Homeland War is a Croatian state medal awarded to both Croatian and foreign citizens who participated in the nation's Croatian War of Independence, as a volunteer, part of the Croatian Army and Croatian Council of Defence or in some other role. The medal was widely granted, given to over 430,000 people who participated in the war in some form.
