(Dannebrogordenen). Instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Type VI: Margrethe II. A high-quality, silver gilt oblong Latin Cross, exhibiting finely enamelled white arms with red borders, displaying detailed royal crowns in each quadrant, the obverse centre presents the royal cipher of Christian V, with the inscription GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KIND) on its arms, the reverse centre displays the crowned W, with the crowned F VI on the twelve o’clock arm, the dates 1219, 1671, and 1808 appear on the other arms, surmounted by the royal cipher of Christian X crowned with the distinctive Danish royal crown, maker marked on the ring AM for Anton Michelsen, and marked 925 denoting silver fineness, measuring 41.6mm (w) x 83.7mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned integral ball), weighs 39.3 grams (including ribbon), enamels intact, light gilt wear, worn on a full length neck ribbon, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in a red case of issue, the exterior bearing a crowned D on the obverse, while the interior feature a silk lid marked A. MICHELSEN, with a partial red velvet medal bed with storage component for ribbon hear the hinges, measures 81mm (w) x 136mm (l) x 22mm (d), light wear and marks to exterior, loss of maker mark on interior lid, hinge and catch functional, remains in near extremely fine condition.
