Description
A lot of four bayonets, consisting of:
1. A Karabiner 98k bayonet with matching scabbard, measuring 403 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 252 mm long magnetic steel blade demonstrating factory-original bluing and sharpening of the tip and lower edge. A wide fuller runs the majority of the length of each side of the blade. The obverse ricasso is stamped with a serial number of “6653” and with the letter “d”, while the reverse ricasso bears a maker’s mark of “E. Pack & S”, for the noted Ernst Pack & Sohn based out of Solingen. The blade sits securely within a magnetic hilt, with the pommel featuring a hollow insertion slot retaining a functional push-button spring release. The pommel is stamped with a clearly-legible Waffenamt mark of “Wa253”. Two pieces of ribbed dark brown wood compose the handle, and are secured together with dual magnetic metal rivets. Accompanying the bayonet is its original matching scabbard, constructed of a patinated magnetic metal shaft. A downward-pointing hook emanating from the side of the shaft accommodates a frog, constructed of multiple panels of blackened leather and looped for belt suspension. The reverse of the frog bears the marks “0/0676”, “0039”, as well as the date mark “43” in the leather. The throat is numbered with a matching serial number of “6653” and retains a functional spring catch to firmly hold the bayonet in place during storage. Demonstrating signs of age and wear, in overall better than very fine condition.

It features a 369 mm long magnetic steel blade demonstrating a factory-original finish, with an unsharpened tip and blade.
