Done at Paris, August 14, 1920. / Seen, sealed and registered, No 24.934 / The Head of the First Bureau), with the embossed seal of the Grand Chancellory of the Legion of Honour and coded "11-1 d'O.-1919 [22085]" at the lower left, plus two signatures, within a ornate border, printed in black ink, with the individual handwritten entries in black pen ink, on an off-white paper stock, board-mounted, measuring 453 mm (w) x 376 mm (h), exhibiting soiling throughout, with wear along the top edge, fine.

Footnote: Clive Osric Vere Gray, C.M.G., D.S.O. was born in India on July 7, 1882, the son of Evelyn Gray and Violet Auriol Wilkins. Gray was a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College when he received his commission, as a Second Lieutenant on January 8, 1901, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 27264 of Tuesday, January 8, 1901, page 160. He married Blanche Elwyn Vere Palmer (1888-1961) on October 5, 1908 at St. Georges, Hanover Square, London, the couple later having one child, a daughter, Hermione Mary Auriol Gray (1912-1997). Captain Gray, Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) was to be an Adjutant, effective May 8, 1912, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 28609 of Friday, May 17, 1912, page 3586. Captain Gray, Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) was appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, vice Captain A. F. A. N. Thorne, Grenadier Guards, effective August 19, 1915, the announcement appearing in the Third Supplement to the London Gazette 29268 of Tuesday, September 14, 1915, on Thursday, September 16, 1915, page 9202. He was also Mentioned in Despatches, by Field-Marshal J.D.P. French, Commanding-in-Chief, The British Army in France, the announcement appearing in the Supplement to the London Gazette 29422 of Friday, December 31, 1915, on Saturday, January 1, 1916, page 5. He was promoted to the rank of Major on January 8, 1916.

Major Clive Osric Vere Gray, Seaforth Highlanders was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO), as part of King George V's Birthday Honours, the announcement appearing in the Supplement to the London Gazette 29608 of Friday, June 2, 1916, on Saturday, June 3, 1916, page 5568. He was promoted to Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel on January 1, 1918 and retired from the Seaforth Highlanders in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on March 12, 1920 (Gentleman-at-Arms). Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel Clive Osric Vere Gray, C.M.G., D.S.O., Seaforth Highlanders was awarded the Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour from the French Government, the announcement appearing in the Second Supplement to the London Gazette 31827 of Tuesday, March 16, 1920, on Wednesday, March 17, 1920, page 3402. Lieutenant-Colonel Clive Osric Vere Gray, C.M.G., D.S.O. was appointed to His Majesty's Household, as a Gentleman of the Corps, effective July 21, 1936, the announcement appearing in the Supplement to the London Gazette 34306 of Friday, July 17, 1936, on Monday, July 20, 1936, page 4667, and was appointed to His Majesty's Household, as a Gentleman of the Corps, effective March 1, 1937, the announcement appearing in the London Gazette 34376 of Tuesday, March 2, 1937, page 1409. He died in 1945, in his sixty-third year.
