(Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur). II Empire (1852-1870). In silver with white, blue, and green enamels, each of the arms finished with ball finials, green enamelled wreath segments in each quadrant, obverse center shows profile of Luis Napoleon facing right with inscription “NAPOLEON EMPEREUR DES FRANCAIS” in the blue enamel ring surrounding the centerpiece, reverse centerpiece shows an eagle surrounded by blue enamelled ring with the inscription “HONNEUR ET PATRIE”, measures 40.7 mm (w) x 61.8 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension), weighs 21.47 grams including red period ribbon, marked with a boars head on the 6 o’clock ribbon tassels denoting 800 silver fineness and Paris manufacture between 1838-1962, notable enamel chips to the obverse and reverse, dark patina, discolouration and wearing of ribbon, remains in very fine condition.
