Description
(Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur). Instituted in 1802. In silver with blue, white and green enamels, centrepieces in Gold with red, white and blue enamels, with red embroidery in the voided areas of the crown, hallmarked with a boar's head on the tip of the ribbon on the reverse, measuring 45.5 mm (w) x 66 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, chipping evident in the blue enamels on the obverse centrepiece ring, along with the green enamels on the wreath below the crown on the obverse, original ribbon, better than very fine.
Footnote: The Order ofthe Legion of Honour was instituted on May 12, 1802 and is awarded for eminent service to the nation, civilian or military, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
