(Hanseatenkreuze mit Verleihungsurkunde). A pair of Hanseatic Crosses to a single recipient, including:
1 A Lübeck award, constructed of silvered copper with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms, bearing a central red enameled medallion overlaid by an enameled Lübeck coat of arms, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), the three and nine o’clock arms accommodating a customized pinback with a barrel hinge and horizontal pin meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 40.03 mm (w) x 40.02 mm (h), weighing 18.5 grams, demonstrating some flecking to the enamels and careful removal of the original suspension ring, in very fine condition; accompanied by its original award document, named to “WILHELM HAMANN” of 2. Infanterie-Regiment, dated 29 March 1916, measuring 22.5 cm (w) x 28.5 cm (h), demonstrating some folding creases, in better than very fine condition.
2. A Bremen award, constructed of silvered copper with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms, bearing a central red enameled medallion overlaid by a silvered Hamburg coat of arms, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), the three and nine o’clock arms accommodating a customized pinback with a barrel hinge and horizontal pin meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 39.53 mm (w) x 39.79 mm (h), weighing 18.4 grams, demonstrating some flecking to the enamels and careful removal of the original suspension ring, in very fine condition, accompanied by its original award document, named to “ALBERT STRUTHOFF” of VIII Flottilla, dated 3 September 1918, measuring 21.5 cm (w) x 27 cm (h), demonstrating folding creases and some discolouration, in very fine condition.
