(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar for a First World War combatant with long and distinguished NSDAP service, featuring four awards, including:
1. A 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, without visible marks, measuring 42.96 mm (w) x 46.60 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish to the core, in near extremely fine condition.
2. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse maker marked with the logo of Richard Sieper & Söhn, Lüdenscheid, measuring 37.18 mm (w) x 41.19 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. An NSDAP Long Service Award, II Class for 15 Years, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patté with blue enameled arms trimmed with ribbed borders and joined through the quadrants by stylized rays, the obverse bearing a central blue enameled medallion, situated within a circular oak leaf wreath overlaid by an NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central blue enameled medallion, situated within a circular oak leaf wreath and overlaid by a silvered inscription of “TREUE FÜR FÜHRER UND VOLK” (“LOYALTY FOR FÜHRER AND PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 42.65 mm (w) x 44.94 mm (h), a striking example in near mint condition.
4. An NSDAP Long Service Award, III Class for 10 Years, constructed of a bronzed zink alloy, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms joined through the quadrants by stylized rays, the obverse bearing a central circular oak leaf wreath, overlaid by an NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a raised inscription of “TREUE FÜR FÜHRER UND VOLK” (“LOYALTY FOR FÜHRER AND PEOPLE”), unmarked, measuring 43.15 mm (w) x 48.48 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish to the edges, in extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 125 mm-long non-magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and black wool reverse liner, unmarked, demonstrating minor soiling to the ribbons, accompanied by one half of an original card stock presentation case, a high-quality bar demonstrating careful assembly in extremely fine condition.
