(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 I. Klasse). Reinstituted August 5th, 1914 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1914-1918 issue). A fine example of a private purchase jeweler-made Iron Cross 1914 First Class, constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a vaulted Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central “W”, the six o’clock arm with the reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a Royal Crown, the reverse with a central female threaded screw post retaining a large backing plate and male threaded screw post, unmarked, measuring 42.2 mm (w) x 42.1 mm (l), a top quality example in very fine condition.
