(Jagdgeschwader 1 Fahne mit Unterschriften). A unique presentation flag signed by the surviving members of Jagdgeschwader 1 (Manfred von Richthofen’s legendary Flying Circus), constructed of a fine satin and consisting of a Reichskriegsflagge, the lower left quadrant bearing a partially-legible handwritten dedication from Charles Donald, indicating that the signatures were obtained these veterans between 27-28 May 1967 at Konstanz, the upper right quadrant bearing a handwritten dedication from the group to Charles Donald in the name of Jagdgeschwader 1, the lower right quadrant bearing handwritten signatures from members of the unit, including Arthur Laumann (flying ace with 28 victories), Alois Heldmann (flying ace with 15 victories), Willi Gabriel (flying ace with 11 victories), Egon Koepsch (flying ace with 9 victories), Hans Georg von der Osten (flying ace with 5 victories), Alfred Niemz (4 victories), Karl Bodenschatz, Otto Ludwig Förster, Otto Rödiger, Walter Grosch, Walter Lehmann, Werner von Raffay, and Ewald von Conta, the centrepiece bearing an additional handwritten inscription indicating that the flag was subsequently presented to Bill Rasmussen for display in his shop on 12 October 1968, situated with a black-painted wooden frame measuring 66 cm (w) x 56 cm (h), the reverse retaining an intact paper liner and suspension wire, the frame has lost its glass face resulting in significant tearing and deterioration to the flag which, while legible, has been rendered extremely fragile, a superb dedicated display piece signed by veterans of a legendary Luftstreitkräfte unit in fair condition.
