(Patriotische Abzeichen). A mixed lot of four First World War patriotic badges, including:
1. A first war year Central Powers badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT STRAFE ENGLAND! 1914-1915” (“GOD PUNISH ENGLAND! 1914-1915”), surrounding German, Austrian, and Ottoman flags executed in enamel and set over a void, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 26 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
2. A Dual Alliance badge, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a stylized enameled crown, surrounding a disc bearing the raised profiles of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Emperor Franz Joseph, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 30 mm (w) x 24 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A large propaganda badge, constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a horizontal diamond with a central silvered oval field, bearing a raised inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 40 mm (w) x 25 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A small propaganda badge, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a Cross Pattée with black enameled arms, bearing a central wreathed inscription of “WIR MÜSSEN SIEGEN” (“WE MUST WIN”), topped by a crown and situated above the monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 20 mm (w) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
