(Fürstlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern Ehrenkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern und Etui). Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms trimmed with black enameled borders, joined through the quadrants by a green enameled laurel wreath, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a Hohenzollern imperial eagle, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing an inscription of “VOM FELS ZUM MEER” (“FROM THE CLIFFS TO THE SEA”) with laurel branches, pierced by gilt crossed swords, the reverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt date of “DEN 18. JANUAR 1851” with laurel branches, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop connecting to a crown suspension, in turn affixed with a loop connecting to a boutonniere retaining an original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 15.38 mm (w) x 17.97 mm (h), weighing 5.5 grams (inclusive of boutonniere and ribbon), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a two-piece card stock frame, the lid bearing a maker’s mark of “CARL BUCHWALD, LÜBECK”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 40 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, a superb jeweller-quality example in extremely fine condition.
