Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class Cross, by Wagner & Sohn

(Roter Adler Orden, Kreuz IV. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1864-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a hand-painted Prussian imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a sphere through which is loop a suspension ring retaining a period original ribbon, the six o’clock arm maker marked with the logo of Johann Wagner & Sohn, Berlin, measuring 38.82 mm (w) x 42.74 mm (h), weighing 16.7 grams, a fine-quality example produced c. 1915 in extremely fine condition.
