(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 18 January 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1810-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“SERVICE TO THE STATE”), situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the reverse bearing a raised and crowned monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, unmarked, measuring 39.30 mm in diameter, weighing 22.6 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded black satin lid liner and depressed black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 55 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue to the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
