Prussia, Kingdom. A Military Merit Cross, Boutonniere Miniature, by J. Godet & Sohn

(Militär-Verdienstkreuz, Miniatur). Instituted 27 February 1864 by King Wilhem I. (1864-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “KRIEGS VERDIENST” (“WAR MERIT”), the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop with a suspension ring connecting to a boutonniere retaininga period original ribbon, the butonniere maker marked “J. GODET & SOHN, BERLIN”, the cross measuring 15.14 mm (w) x 17.61 mm (h), a high-quality example in extremely fine condition.
