Description

(Kriegerehrenzeichen in Eisen an Schraubscheibe). Instituted 13 March 1917 by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig. (1917 issue). Constructed of silvered magnetic iron and bronze, the obverse consisting of a circular blackened magnetic iron laurel leaf wreath, overlaid by a silvered monogram of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, topped by a crown and situated above a plaque bearing a number of “25”, the reverse demonstrating careful removal of the original hinge and catch and expert replacement with two threaded screw posts retaining a silver backplate and two period nuts, unmarked, measuring 38.96 mm (w) x 45.21 mm (h), weighing 18.6 grams, a truly unique example of this award demonstrating professional attachment conversion in near extremely fine condition.
