Prussia, Kingdom. A Pour le Mérite, Miniature Boutonniere Version, by J. Godet & Sohn

(Pour le Mérite Miniatur). Instituted June 1940 by King Friedrich II. (1740-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with blue enameled arms, joined through the quadrants by finely-detailed Prussian imperial eagles, the three, six, and nine o’clock arms bearing a gilt inscription of “POUR LE MÉRITE”, the twelve o’clock bearing a monogram of King Friedrich II, affixed to a boutonniere retaining a period original bow tie-style ribbon, the reverse maker marked “GODET, BERLIN”, measuring 15.17 mm (w) x 15.17 mm (h), weighing 4.2 grams (all inclusive), most of the gilt finish has been lost leaving the applicable features with a silvered appearance, in addition to a small chip to the enamel of the six o’clock arm, a high-quality jeweller-made example in better than very fine condition.
