Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class Cross by H.J. Wilm, c. 1900

(Roter Adler Orden, Kreuz IV. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1864-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a hand-painted red Prussian imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a period original ribbon, the centrepiece mark between the nine and twelve o’clock arms (when viewed from the obverse) with the logo of H.J. Wilm, Berlin, measuring 38.70 mm (w) x 42.46 mm (h), weighing 16.3 grams, demonstrating a consistent patina throughout the silver base, in near extremely fine condition.
