Description

(Spanienkreuz in Gold mit Schwertern, Museumsstück). Constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a Maltese Cross with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by Luftwaffe eagles clutching mobile swastikas, bearing a central raised mobile swastika situated within dual circular rings, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, the pinback maker marked with LDO code “L/58” for Rudolf Souval, Vienna, measuring 59.42 mm (w) x 58.61 mm (h), weighing 31.8 grams, a very fine-quality exhibition example produced c. 1960 for collector display and veteran replacement, in mint condition.
