(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse mit Verleihungsurkunden). A group of wartime items from the estate of Gefreiter Stefan Brunner, including:
1. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the suspension loop stamped with an illegible Präsidialkanzlei code, measuring 44.11 mm (w) x 47.82 mm (h), weighing 20.4 grams, in extremely fine condition.
2. An award document for the 1939 Iron Cross II Class, named to Brunner as a Gefreiter, awarded in Vienna on 28 June 1943, certified by the handwritten signature of General der Infanterie Alfred Streccius (German Cross in Silver, 5 August 1943), measuring 13.5 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating some material fatigue, in better than very fine condition.
3. An award document for a Gold Grade Wound Badge, named to Brunner as a Gefreiter of Infanterie-Regiment 164, awarded in Vienna on 10 March 1943 for a single wound suffered on 22 September 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Oberstabsarzt and Chefarzt of Reserve-Lazarett XVIb, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating material fatigue throughout, in very fine condition.
4. A studio portrait depicting Brunner in a Heer Enlisted uniform, wearing the 1939 Iron Cross II Class ribbon and Gold Grade Wound Badge, the reverse in postcard format and stamped with a Vienna studio mark, also bearing a handwritten date of “1943”, measuring 9 cm (w) x 14 cm (h), demonstrating the remnants of card stock to the reverse consistent with previous album display, in extremely fine condition.
