Germany, Federal Republic. A Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, Postwar Veteran’s Example, by Rudolf Souval

Constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop retaining a suspension ring with a period original length of ribbon, the twelve o’clock arm stamped with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 49.05 mm (w) x 54.57 mm (h), weighing 20.9 grams, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a postwar example manufactured with original components by the firm of Rudolf Souval, Vienna, commonly distributed as replacement pieces to veterans and as quality exhibition examples for collector display, measuring 49.07 mm (w) x 54.56 mm (h), weighing 20.9 grams, in unissued and near mint condition.
