Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by the Vienna Mint

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “30” for the Vienna Mint, measuring 36.20 mm (w) x 43.76 mm (h), weighing 25.8 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 75 mm (w) x 75 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), moderate loss of gilt finish is visible to the badge and minor material fatigue is evident to the case, in overall better than very fine condition.
