Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by Friedrich Orth

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber mit Etui). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/14” for Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 36.44 mm (w) x 44.02 mm (h), weighing 30.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 66 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish throughout the base metal of the badge, an uncommon example demonstrating correct Vienna manufacturer hardware in near extremely fine condition.
