For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. Description
(Ordnungspolizei Fotoalbum). A fascinating and superb private wartime photo album compiled by an Ordnungspolizei Constable-equivalent who saw extensive service in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, constructed of a pressed card stock binding with a faux brown leather exterior liner, the spine perforated with four eyelets reinforced with black painted magnetic metal grommets, looped through with a drawstring which maintains the album’s structural integrity, the cover bearing a raised and silvered Heer Stahlhelm at the upper left corner, with a silvered inscription of “AUS MEINER DIENSTZEIT” (“FROM MY SERVICE TIME”) at the lower right corner, the interior content consisting of 23 card stock pages pasted with 252 images (the vast majority private and candid images interspersed with a small number of postcards), separated by wax paper dividers to protect the images, chronicling the early-to-mid-wartime (1939-1943) career of the owner, opening with images of the owner and comrades on duty in uniform in and around Brünn (Brno), transitioning to depictions of the owner (similarly in uniform) with friends and family in the same location, with images of personnel participating in sports events and notable locations such as Schloss Eichhoren (Veveří Castle), continuing with tourist-style photos of Wranau (Vranov), Spielberg Castle (Špilberk), a further selection of family photos (with women and children wearing Ordnungspolizei caps), bridged by a number of images showing the owner in an Ordnungspolizei tunic with both visor caps and a transitional Stahlhelm in wear, followed by numerous images of the owner and comrades in Prosnitz (Prostějov), Sternberg (Sternberk), and Olmütz (Olomuoc), featuring depictions of local landmarks in sharp detail, and completing with images of the owner on duty in a rural area in Georgenberg in 1943 (culminating in a Christmas party), measuring 31.5 cm (w) x 20.5 cm (h), demonstrating only minor material fatigue and the loss of a trivial number of photos, a rare personalized depiction of police duty in an occupied German territory in wartime in extremely fine condition.
