Germany, Third Reich. A 1937/38 Champion Marksman Award in Silver

(Schützenkönig Medaille in Silber). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a double-sided circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of Tracht-clad individual waving an NSDAP flag, flanked by a date of “13. MÄRZ 1938” (commemorating the Anchluss) and circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), the reverse bearing raised clusters of oak leaves topped by a mobile swastika, situated above an engraved dedication of “F. BOETSCH, SCHÜTZENKÖNIG, 1937”, stamped with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 53.68 mm (w) x 57.78 mm (h), weighing 29.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
