In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Ordnungspolizei Seitengewehr mit Koppelschuh und Portepee). An extremely well-preserved Ordnungspolizei dress bayonet, measuring 39.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 26 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains factory-original sharpening to the tip. A narrow fuller runs the majority of the upper edge of each side of the blade. The reverse ricasso bears a maker’s mark of “ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN”, for the firm of Carl Eickhorn, surrounding the company’s classic squirrel logo. It sits securely within a one-piece nickel-plated alloy hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel that takes the form of a double-sided eagle’s head. Two pieces of lacquered staghorn compose the handle grip, and are fixed in position with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is a silvered Ordnungspolizei insignia measuring 20 mm (w) x 20 mm (h). Accompanying the dagger is its original scabbard, constructed of a boiled blackened leather shaft. A magnetic metal fixture is riveted to the tip, while an additional magnetic clip emanates from the side for the accommodation of a frog. The former is included, and is constructed of multiple panels of heavy black leather which are stitching into a loop for belt suspension. Wrapped around the frog is a matching portpee, consisting of a stylized silver aluminum wire and green threaded acorn, suspended from a black leather strap decorated with silver aluminum wire and red threaded tresses. Minor issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and included some running marks to the blade and material fatigue of the portepee. It remains in an extremely fine condition.
