In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(HJ Fahrtenmesser). An HJ member’s knife, measuring 25.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains some factory-original sharpening to the tip and lower edge. The reverse features a double maker’s mark in the form of the classic “PUMA” logo of Lauterjung & Sohn, Solingen, along with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and code “M7/27” for the same manufacturer. The latter is situated above a production date of “1939”. The blade sits securely within a nickel-plated alloy hilt featuring a hooked quillon and pommel. Two pieces of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip, and are fixed in position with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (l). Accompanying the knife is its original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse is a black leather strap, fashioned into a loop for belt suspension, which retains a functional metal snap button. A catch situated within the throat holds the knife in place during storage. Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and include significant tarnishing throughout the blade, some blunting of the tip and lower edge, loss of scabbard paint, and slight fatigue of the leather hanger. This late-period example with transitional marks remains in a very fine condition.
