(Rudolf Hess Bücher und Bilder). A rare lot of photos and books retrieved from the estate of the Hess family gardener, consisting of:
1. A lot of 29 period photos of various sizes, most depicting scenes of an undated Nuremberg Rally, with many depicting NSDAP, Sturmabteilung (SA), and Schutzstaffel (SS) personnel assembled at the Luitpoldarena and on parade through the streets of the city, with several featuring images of Rudolf Hess himself, with the Deputy Führer seen in a vehicle being greeted by supporters, speaking with officials, and on holiday in the Mediterranean, all printed on period photo paper, accompanied by two studio envelopes, both bearing handwritten names of “HESS” on the exterior, a historically-important compilation in extremely fine condition.
2. A lot of six wartime books, including a copy of “Kampf um Deutschland” by Philipp Bouhler, constructed of a card stock binding with a brown canvas exterior liner, the cover bearing the author and title in Fraktur script, the interior with 107 paginated pages of text supplemented by advertisements, published in 1938 by Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Berlin, measuring 155 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), in extremely fine condition; a 1935 copy of Bouhler’s biography of AH, part of “Colemans Kleine Biographien” series, constructed of a light card stock binding with 49 paginated interior pages, published in 1935 by the Coleman press in Lübeck, measuring 130 mm (w) x 190 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 1935 copy of “So kam ss!” (“So it Came!”), constructed of a paper stock binding with 128 paginated interior pages, published in 1935 by H.A. Braun & Co., Berlin-Tempelhof, measuring 152 mm (w) x 225 mm (h), with extensive fatigue evident, in fair condition; a 1939 copy of “Daten der Geschichte der NSDAP” (“Dates in the History of the NSDAP”) by Dr. Hans Volz, constructed of a paper stock binding with 130 paginated interior pages, published in 1939 by A.G. Ploetz, Berlin-Leipzig, measuring 122 mm (w) x 175 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition; a 1943 copy of “Der Blick nach vorne” (“The View to the Front”) by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, constructed of a paper stock binding with 63 paginated interior pages, published in 1943 by M. Müller & Sohn, Berlin, measuring 142 mm (w) x 202 mm (h), in very fine condition, and; a copy of “Die Neue Reichskanzlei” (“The New Reich Chancellery”), constructed of a light card stock binding with non-paginated interior pages, the interior of the cover pasted with a bookplate reading “E. KIRCHNER”, measuring 120 mm (w) x 160 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
3. A pair of postwar books, including a copy of “England, Spandau, Nürnberg” by Ilse Hess, constructed of a card stock binding with 175 paginated interior pages, published in 1952 by Druffel-Verlag, Leoni am Starnberger See, measuring 145 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), with extensive exterior fatigue evident, in fair condition, and; a copy of “Gefangener des Friedens: Neue Briefe aus Spandau” (“Prisoner of Peace: New Letters from Spandau”) by Ilse Hess, constructed of a card stock binding with 195 paginated interior pages and retaining a fully-intact original dust jacket, published in 1955 by Druffel-Verlag, Leoni am Starnebrger See, measuring 145 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A group of mint and unused postcards depicting the Parteitag der Arbeit 1937 (“Party Day of Labour 1937”) in in Nuremberg, consisting of 11 card with glossed black-and-white images of Wehrmacht personnel on review and with several depictions of AH and NSDAP officials, all studio marked “ANDRO-VERLAG, NÜRBERG” and measuring 141 mm (w) x 91 mm (h), accompanied by their original card stock folder, in overall near mint condition.
5. Two miscellaneous items, including a two-piece card stock box, finished in a brown marbled exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt embossed SA logo, the interior demonstrating the removal of a bed or liner, measuring 162 mm (w) 162 mm (l) x 40 mm (h), in with exterior fatigue evident, in very fine condition, and; a small leather pouch, closing with two functional magnetic metal snap buttons, unmarked, measuring 136 mm (w) x 95 mm (h), with extensive material fatigue evident, in poor condition.
