(Heer Auszeichungen und Verleihungsurkunde). A set of awards and documents named to Robert Schier, who served with 14. (Panzer-Jäger) Kompanie, Grenadier-Regiment 7, including:
1. An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 36.14 mm (w) x 43.90 mm (h), weighing 23.0 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition, accompanied by its award document, named to Schier as a Gefreiter, issued on 26 July 1942, and certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Hauptmann and Company Commander, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Black Grade Wound Badge, constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.74 mm (w) x 44.45 mm (h), weighing 11.8 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish and surface oxidation, in very fine condition, accompanied by its award document, named to Schier as a Gefreiter, issued on 22 September 1943 for a single wound suffered on 9 August 1943, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Stabsarzt and Cherarzt of Reserve-Lazarett Ebersbach, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20.5 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
3. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, unmarked, measuring 44.28 mm (w) x 47.70 mm (h), weighing 17.7 grams, in extremely fine condition, accompanied by its award document, named to Schier as an Obergefreiter, issued from headquarters on 31 August 1944, certified by the handwritten signature of Oberst Gerhard Semmer in his capacity as a stand-in for the Commander of 252. Infanterie-Division, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
4. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a crimped base, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “100” for Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida, measuring 35.97 mm (w) x 43.72 mm (h), weighing 22.0 grams, a superb zink badge retaining the majority of its original finish in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its award document, named to Schier as an Obergefreiter, issued on 23 September 1944 for three wounds (9 August 1943, 22 June 1944, and 7 August 1944), certified by the handwritten signature of Oberst Heinrich Dorn (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 16 November 1944), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
5. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k rifle with the bayonet attached and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a crimped base, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a variant produced by an unknown maker as examined in “The Infantry Assault Badge”, Sascha Weber, 2008, pages 200-2001, measuring 47.40 mm (w) x 62.07 mm (h), weighing 24.8 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish throughout, in near extremely fine condition, accompanied by its award document, named to Schier as an Obergefeiter, issued from headquarters on 15 December 1944, certified by the handwritten signature of Oberst Heinrich Dorn (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 16 November 1944), measuring 15 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), in very fine condition.
