Measuring 211x295mm, better than very fine condition with some fraying at the top, and four punched holes. It is dated to August 1, 1943 and signed by an SS-Obersturmführer and Battery Chief, the name could be Mattausch.
Footnote: Paul Aldinger was born on March 5, 1922 in Fellbach (near Stuttgart). He joined the SS and was then sworn in on April 7, 1940. On April 20, 1941 he became an SS-Sturmführer. From late June to early July 1941 Aldinger fought in the region of Salla in northeast Finland. During the rest of July fightings shifted to the Kuoloyarvi sector, and in August they were located in the Sohjana-Kiestinki (Kestenga) sector on Lake Topozero. From September 1941 to mid January 1942 the unit fought a defensive battle east of Kiestinki, in November in the vicinity of Mount Gankashvaara. During this time Aldinger was promoted to SS-Unterscharführer on November 9, 1941. The defensive battle near Kiestinki continued between late April and late May of 1942. Aldinger was then redeployed to the 9th Company of the SS Mountain Artillery Regiment in the SS Mountain Division “Nord” on May 25. He received the Eastern Front Medal on August 10, 1942. Between mid January and the end of July of 1943 more defensive battles in northern Finland followed, during which Aldinger was wounded on March 28 when he received a contusion of the left knee joint and a meniscal injury. For this he was awarded the Wound Badge in Black on March 30. On August 6Aldinger was redeployed to the Staff of the 3rd Battery of SS Mountain Artillery Regiment “Nord”. No further information is available.
