(Wehrpaß). A fascinating Wehrpaß, constructed of a card stock binding with 52 paginated interior pages filled with stamped and handwritten entries, named to “JOSEF ALTSCHÄFFL”, who was born on 20 January 1922 in Austria to parents Johann and Franziska and entered Wehrmacht service in 1942 with a number of Heer infantry and machine gun units as part of Army Group South on the Eastern Front, with entries indicating that he received the Black Grade Wound Badge (9 September 1942), the Krim Shield (1 October 1942), and the Romanian Crusade Against Communism Medal (11 May 1943), with compartments featuring additional documentation that Altschäffl received severe head wounds in combat which resulted in him being discharged from active service on 27 October 1944, the Wehrpaß measuring 11 cm (w) x 15 cm (h), a researchable example in near extremely fine condition.
