(Luftwaffe Essbesteck). A mixed lot of six pieces of Luftwaffe mess hall cutlery, including:
1. Two teaspoons, each constructed of aluminum, the obverse of both bearing stamped Luftwaffe eagles clutching mobile swastikas, one flanked by an inscription of “FL. U. V.” for Flieger Unterkunft Verwaltung (Flight Barracks Administration), the reverse of the other spoon similarly bearing a Flight Barracks Administration Logo, the former stamped on the reverse with a manufacture date of “1939” and a maker’s mark of “BERNDORF”, both measuring 32 mm (w) x 150 mm (l), in overall near extremely fine condition.
2. A tablespoon, constructed of aluminum, the obverse stamped with a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse stamped with a Flight Barracks Administration logo and maker’s mark of “WFN” for an unidentified manufacturer alongside a date of “41”, measuring 46 mm (w) x 208 mm (l), in very fine condition.
3. A dinner fork, constructed of aluminum, the obverse stamped with a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse stamped with a Flight Barracks Administration logo and maker’s mark of “H.M.Z.” for Hessische Metallwarenfabrik Ziegenhain alongside a date of “38”, measuring 27 mm (w) x 210 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
4. A butterknife, of two-piece construction, consisting of an aluminum handle affixed to a non-serrated magnetic steel blade stamped “ROSTFREI” indicating stainless steel construction, the obverse of the handle stamped with a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse stamped with a Flight Barracks Administration logo and maker’s mark of “H.M.Z.” for Hessische Metallwarenfabrik Ziegenhain alongside a date of “41”, measuring 23 mm (w) x 245 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
5. A ladle, constructed of aluminum, featuring a sharply sloped handle culminating in a bowl with a spout, the obverse stamped with a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse stamped with a Flight Barracks Administration logo and maker’s mark of “H.M.Z.” for Hessische Metallwarenfabrik Ziegenhain alongside a date of “37”, measuring 182 mm in total length, in near extremely fine condition.
6. Also including a trowel, constructed of silver and set on a lacquered wooden handle, the reverse stamped with silver hallmarks tentatively accredited to John Sherwood & Sons, Birmingham, England, measuring 35 mm (w) x 160 mm (l), in very fine condition.
