Germany, Heer. A Panzer EM/NCO’s M35 Overseas Cap

(Heer Schiffchen M35 für Mannschaften der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s M35 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. The crown is flanked by ventilation holes which are reinforced with zink grommets. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the cap features an additional insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece silver-grey rayon liner. Stamped onto the crown is a partially-legible maker’s mark of “M. MERTES NACHF., NÜRNBERG”, with a manufacture date of “1941”. The cap measures approximately 28 cm (l) x 10.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no evident damage or wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
