In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Ordnungspolizei Tschako für Mannschaften). A restored Ordnungspolizei EM/NCO’s shako, constructed of a sturdy back vulcanfibre shell. The crown is topped by a layer of flattened black vulcanfibre in a classic “coffee can” style, and is flanked on each side by dual ventilation holes covered by non-magnetic metal mesh. A hollow channel set into the peak accommodates a period cockade, constructed of aluminum and finished on the obverse in red, silver (in place of white), and black, emanating from a U-shaped post which inserts into the former. Riveted onto the peak is a period aluminum insignia consisting of a semi-circular oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 13.5 cm (w) x 8.5 cm (h) overall. The lower sides of the shell are flanked by mis-matched aluminum screw posts (one wartime and marked with the logo of A.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid). The posts accommodate a period black leather chinstrap which adjusts with dual functional aluminum buckles. The exterior features complete with a protruding black vulcanfibre visor and neck guard emanating from the front and back, respectively. A light brown leather liner encompasses the interior and consists of nine fingers, each perforated at the top with an original drawstring. Sliding shutters situated behind the ventilation holes allow for one eyelet to be closed according to the wearer’s comfort. Unmarked with the exception of the post logo, the shako measures approximately 15.5 cm (w) (exclusive of screw posts) x 25 cm (l) x 25 cm (h) (exclusive of cockade). Issues consistent with re-assembly using mis-matched components are evident, in addition some fatigue of the shell and leather elements. An interesting example employing both Third Reich-period and post-war fixtures, this shako remains in a very fine condition.
