(Flottenkriegsabzeichen). Instituted April 30th, 1941. Constructed of gilded and silvered tombac, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a frontal depiction of a battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a block hinge, banjo-style vertical pinback, and flat wire catch, marked “Fec. Adolf Bock” and maker marked “Ausf. Schwerin, Berlin” and displaying all typical manufacturing characteristics of this Variant III, such as the domed pin on the right side of the hinge, the obscured far left window on the bridge, and the weakly stamped first two portholes of the upper row, measuring 43.8 mm (w) x 56.9 mm (l), weighing 32.56 grams, the majority of its finish intact with light oxidation visible on the obverse, in overall near extremely fine condition.
