Germany, Kreigsmarine. A Minesweeper War Badge, with Award Document and Rank Chevron, to Matrosengefreiter Ernst Hollatz

(Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd- und Sicherungsverbände mit Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of an exploding sea mine, the reverse with a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.57 mm (w) x 54.86 mm (h), weighing 27.5 grams, the catch and pinback are missing and the base metal demonstrates moderate loss of finish throughout, in fair condition; accompanied by its original award document, named to “MATROSENGEFREITEN ERNST HOLLATZ”, issued on board a Kriegsmarine vessel on 9 June 1941, certified by the handwritten signature of Konteradmiral Hans Stohwasser (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 30 November 1940), measuring 21.5 cm (w) x 30.5 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition; also accompanied by a Kriegsmarine Gefreiter summer uniform rank insignia, constructed of a white cotton base, the obverse bearing a blue chevron, unmarked, measuring 90 mm (w) x 80 mm (h), demonstrating minor soiling, in uniform-removed and extremely fine condition.
