Description

(Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch, U-Boot-Jagd und Sicherungsverbände). Instituted August 31st, 1940. Constructed of gilded and silvered tombac, the obverse consisting of an oval oak wreath joined together at the base by a ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of an exploding sea mine, the reverse with a block hinge, vertical banjo-style pinback, and flat wire catch, designer marked “Otto Placzek, Berlin” and maker marked “Schwerin, Berlin”, measuring 43.3mm (w) x 53.7 mm (l), weighing 24.92 grams, in overall very fine condition.
