A fine first and second war German medal bar with three awards, consisting of:
1. An Iron Cross 1914 Second Class. (Eisernes Kreuz 1914 II. Klasse). Reinstituted August 5th, 1914 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. Constructed of iron and silver, on a fixed and swivel loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.7 mm (w) x 42.7 mm (l).
2. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918. (Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914/1918). Instituted July 13th, 1934. Constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on a fixed and swivel loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords along with the central dates “1914” and “1918” within a central oak wreath, the reverse plain, measuring 38.0 mm (w) x 37.8 mm (l).
3. A Medal of the German Red Cross. (Medaille des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes). Instituted April 6th, 1937. Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a Geneva Cross with red enameled arms, joined through the outer quadrants by a white enameled ring, bearing a central gilt and black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse of the crossed featuring a pebbled finish and bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS DEUTSCHE ROTE KREUZ” (“FOR SERVICE TO THE GERMAN RED CROSS”), measuring 39.1 mm in diameter.
All medals and awards are mounted to a ribbon bar, consisting of a ribbon for each of the three awards, mounted onto a magnetic core with a field-grey wool backer, with a horizontal pinback, measuring 102 mm (w) x 40 mm (l), in overall extremely fine condition.
